Rural Odyssey VII - Or What is to Come continues the Rural Odyssey series making fiction of real life and now science fiction. It tells of Mike and Mariah O’Brien back in Abilene working at Dwight D. Eisenhower College. Mike heads “Kansas and Southwest Studies” and Mariah is Dean of Women and Counseling plus teaching one course in American Literature. Daughter Ariel is a freshman in high school. Life goes on with old friends but with some disturbing circumstances from old KKK people. What is new is the “novella” of science fiction loosely based on the 1951 film “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” Klaatu from the galaxy and planet of Tarog lands his command saucer on the old farm and proceeds with his plan for the O’Brien family, Planet Earth and Tarog.
