It tells of his Irish-American, Catholic, pioneering farm parents, the religious and moral beliefs of that tradition and the consequences of living out the same. Mick and his siblings inherit that tradition. Growing food, farm chores, raising and caring of livestock, field work on the tractor, and harvest provide the family subsistence, but not without danger. School, sports, fun with buddies, and imaginary games fill Mick’s teen age years. Music, singing and the guitar, and a special friendship are an important chapter of that time with unplanned consequences. Unforeseen challenges and the unpredictable dangers of life fill the O’Brien’s days as well. Work and play, joy and sadness. Mick tells it all as it happened.
